Question How do I adjust a Harley Davidson clutch?
Best Answer 2 places, 1st is on the clutch cable, in the middle there is a rubber boot. Underneath the boot is an adjustment. 2nd , behind the derby cover , dead center on the clutch assembly is a 7/32 allen with a 11/16 lock nut .

Question Harley Davidson Clutch?
When I pull the clutch lever all the way in, shouldn't the bike feel like it's in neutral? It always felt that way with all my other bikes, but this is my first Harley. I'm not sure if this is normal on Harleys. It's a 2001 Softail Night Train. I normally would disengage the clutch and backup out of my parking lot, but now I have to actually put it in neutral instead or it gets pretty tough to roll backwards. Any thoughts? Just trying to figure out if maybe the clutch isn't disengaging all the way...
Best Answer It should roll without dragging like it is.You should get a service manual and follow the procedure for adjusting the clutch. It's really very simple to do.A primary fluid change might help too.I don't have access to my service manuals at the moment to look the adjustment up so maybe someone else can help.First off though check the free play at the clutch lever. If the free play is too great the clutch will drag.If i remember right it should be about 1/16th to 1/8th of an inch before you feel resistance. If it's more adjust it at the cable adjuster which is under the rubber boot on the cable down where the front frame tubes run in front of the engine.
